WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO
We work with clients to understand how mapping and location awareness can improve what they do. Put simply, we answer questions like: "Where's my stuff?", "Who's doing what, where?" and, "How does this relate to that?" And we provide those answers by visualizing things with maps and adding location context to data.
Our products most often take the form of web-based applications that serve maps, enable workflow and analysis, or otherwise convey information with a sense of place. We also build mobile applications and self-contained systems delivered on thumb drives. In our efforts to create the most value for our clients, we seek to use existing data, services and tools to avoid re-creating the wheel.

Jubal "Daddy Harpy" Harpster
Principal Technologist
Whether he's developing spatial technology or bicycle racing, Jubal lives on the
leading edge. He's been working with spatial information and related technologies
for more than 15 years. "I thrive on challenges," says Jubal. What’s the biggest
challenge he’s faced? "Meeting a performance requirement that a query against a
one billion-row table be returned and mapped within two seconds." How did he manage
it? "We had to organize the data differently and orient the application toward total
performance for the user. We came up with a fairly elegant solution and one that
didn’t require a server farm to deliver."
When he is not working or traveling, you can usually find Jubal at the local park playing tag with his two daughters. Frequently you will see him riding bikes around the Northwest or working on his motorcycle and waiting for the sun to arrive in Seattle. |

Todd "Slindy" Slind
Principal Manager
Todd started his career planning transportation systems. It was there that he got
hooked on geospatial technology. "In transportation, GIS went from a novel technology
to an indispensable tool almost overnight," Todd says. Soon, Todd's focus shifted
away from civil infrastructure toward Geo-ICT applied to a variety of sectors. At
SpatialDev, Todd hopes to deconstruct some of the over-complexity that has crept
into the industry over the past decade. "Our new company has a credo: 'Simple. Spatial.
Sustainable.' We want to build things that are cost-effective, maintainable, and
just plain work."
When he's not working to keep the SpatialDev boat afloat, you can find Todd zipping around the Puget Sound on his sailboat or riding his rickshaw around Ballard with his two wee kids. |

Grant "G-Mac" McKenzie
Geomatic Engineer
Grant lives on the bleeding edge of geospatial technology. He has worked over the
past several years on mobile & server platforms. His specialty is blending Open
Source and proprietary frameworks to create best of breed geo applications. Whether
it’s administering Linux servers, creating a new SMS platform or programming the
latest web application in PHP or .Net you will find Grant heads down, coding into
the wee hours.
In rare moments when G-Mac is not developing new software he is laying it down as guitarist in multiple Northwest bands. You can also join Grant on the annual SURGE cycling adventure. The "Seattle Up to Richmond with Grant Experience" has become an annual event that draws nearly two cyclists from around the Northwest region. |

Ryan "Chubbs" Whitley
Geospatial Technologist
Ryan's quiver of GIS and programming tools has grown impressively over the last
9 years by working on leading edge projects for large private sector companies,
NGOs and local governments. Ryan has a reputation for incredible productivity; often
cranking out code at such a rate it doesn’t seem humanly possible. "I get in a groove
and it just flows out of me", says Ryan. "Sometimes my co-workers get upset because
I don’t leave enough for them to do." Luckily for Ryan, there will always be more
code to sling.
When he isn’t working, Ryan has lent his drumming skills to a number of musical groups including the world famous Blue Thunder drum line. His fusion of Soul, R&B, Funk, Gospel, New Age and Heavy Metal rhythms is truly unique. Recenly, he has been studying West African drumming as well as Brazilian Samba Reggae percussion. Ryan enjoys date nights with his wife and playing 'monsters' with his 2 small children. When he is not programming or changing dirty diapers, Ryan sleepwalks excessively. |

Daniel "D-Boy" Duarte
Software Developer
Dan focuses on writing mobile applications for the Android and iPhone platforms, and creating bomb-proof Python
scripts for complex Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) operations. His thirst for
knowledge is rivaled only by his appetitite for Turkey Pesto sandwiches from Old
Town.

Clint Cabanero
GIS Developer
Clint specializes in Web GIS development and GIS Server administration using ArcGIS
Server and Enterprise SDE. Clint also has expertise in Mobile Mapping solutions
targeting the iOS (iPhone, iPad) and Android platforms. He is also the only member
of our team without an unfortunate nickname.
Outside of work, Clint can be can be found exploring the outdoors with his family and is involved in various Conservation GIS initiatives. |

Andre "Mr Wallets" Hulet
Delivery Director
Andre likes to study many different things - from poetry to programming to paleo-anthropology
to punk rock. And that's just the P's. As a developer, he's won awards for innovation
on large system integration efforts. As a project manager, he's had great success
with clients spanning the spectrum from public sector to Fortune 500. "I've done
a lot of different stuff," Andre says. "Who knows what I'll do next, but I'll always
make time for my cool co-workers at SpatialDev. They are the best developers on
the planet. I remember how we met - I'd just come in from six weeks of smoke-jumping
into forest fires. I'd been through hell on earth, and I needed a beer. There they
were at the back, playing 5-card stud. I broke into the game and things got a little
rough. Words were exchanged - you know how it goes with developers. Anyway, we ended
up behind the bar in an axe throwing contest. After that night, I knew I was one
of them."
Andre likes hanging out with his wife & three sons, plus a few lay-abouts from the neighborhood. He can be seen propelling himself down the street on a longboard using an aluminum pole. |

Eric Kramak
GIS Analyst
Eric has spent the majority of his nascent professional life working internationally. Most recently, he spent time in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe as consultant for Dabane Trust and World Vision Zimbabwe. His primary mandate was to provide foundational, customized and task-specific GIS training to public works employees focused on building sustainable organizational capacity. He also planned and managed public utility "as-built" mapping exercises, training public works employees how to collect spatial and attribute data, process, manage and map their findings.
Eric grows facial hair, climbs things and frequently hurts himself in his spare time. |
